  • 070. Quotes of the Week

Use soft words and hard arguments.
    - English Proverb

They certainly give very strange names to diseases.

    E. B. White (1899 - 1985)

    Taking the First Step

A man decided to visit a hermit who lived near the monastery of Sceta.

“What is the first step of one who aims to follow the spiritual path?” he asked.

The hermit took him to a well and asked him to look at his reflection in the water. The man obeyed, but the hermit began to throw small stones, making ripples on the surface.

“I won’t be able to see my face right if you keep throwing stones.”

“Just as it is impossible to see your face in troubled waters, so it is impossible to seek God if your mind is anxious about the search,” said the monk. “Don’t ask questions, just move forward with faith. This will always be the first and most important step of all.

Here are some of the pictures I took of Art Gallery in Batu Caves, KL.

    Simply Magnificent, My Favourite

Camera setting I used when I was in the Valluvar Kottam.
    1) Exposure: 1/15s at f/3.5
    2) Shutter priority mode
    3) ISO Speed 400
    4) Manual white balance
    5) No flash

This cave was slightly darker than Valluvar Kottam so I had to notch down my shutter speed slightly lower to get the pictures. I think some of the pics turned out really great given the fact I didn’t use a tripod and was shooting on a low shutter speed. Hopefully in time I can become a decent shot.
